On a recent trip to Hong Kong Rodman Primack found himself most intrigued by the newly renovated mid-century Police Married Quarters. Constructed in 1951 to house junior policemen and their families, the buildings have now been renovated into an open marketplace joined by a broad plaza. Housed within are a quirky mix of small, treasure-filled boutiques, studios, and ateliers that are refreshingly local. To walk through them is to be transported back in time.
Primack has assembled some objects from home that capture the feeling of a stylish mid-century, Chinese-inflected life. Amongst them is ANICHINI’s Sitara Brights Quilt, a light weight dupioni silk quilt saturated with bold, striking colors, like the hot pink pictured here.
