Mungo’s authentic, thoughtfully produced, exceptionally crafted collection of bath towels, bedcovers, kitchen towels, and table linens are available at our Quechee, Vermont store.
At ANICHINI we are constantly searching for the genuine article. Authentic, thoughtfully produced, exceptionally crafted textiles. We seek textiles which are created in a sustainable and mindful way, in pursuit of a more ecological and ethical textile industry. We believe in slow textiles.
This search brought us to the Mungo Mill in Plettenberg, South Africa. This textile mill, housed in a weaving museum, is home to Mungo. Mungo is a thirty year old textile company which employs local skilled seamstresses and weavers. They are committed to complete transparency in the production of their products from start to finish. So much so that their production floors are open to the public with guided tours offered daily.
Mungo uses restored antique Lancashire shuttle looms, Ruti looms and the Dornier looms for their weaving, instead of more modern industrial looms. The quality and intricacy of the fabrics they produce is a testament to the skill of their weavers, their masterful design, and their steadfast commitment to their company and community as a whole. “Together we are working to not only create a great product, but also opportunities, skills, and job creation.”
ANICHINI is proud to include Mungo in our collection of featured artisans. Mungo’s intricately woven and colorful collection of bath towels, bedcovers, kitchen towels, and table linens are available at our Quechee, Vermont store.
