When Sara Story, one of our favorite designers, approached the design for this 4,000 square-foot apartment on the 17th floor of a Central Park West tower, she must have looked to sensualism for her inspiration. Sensualism’s central tenet, “if it feels good it is good” seems to underlie each of her design choices. “It focuses on different textures that balance each other and create a timeless feel that’s also casual and approachable,” says Story. “Materials have a tension between them. If I use velvet, it has metal near it, and a leather sofa gets a little fur.”
Story feels that “bedrooms should be luxurious retreats,” and so chose ANICHINI’s sumptuous Raso Sateen Sheets for the master bedroom, mixing their sleek hand with metal, fur, and slubbed silk. She also chose the Palladio Hotel Sheets for the guest room, mixing them with more tailored elements.
